Mia Bergström is a Swedish mezzo-soprano based in Copenhagen.
She trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the Royal Danish Opera Academy under Professor Kirsten Buhl Møller, graduating in 2019. During her education she performed a wide range of roles including Cherubino, Olga, Bradamante, Nerone, and Hänsel, and took part in masterclasses with renowned artists such as Bo Skovhus and Anne Sofie von Otter. Mia made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera in 2018 as Ida in J. Strauss’ Die Fledermaus. Shortly thereafter, she joined the Danish National Opera for their touring production of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, singing the role of Olga.
In 2020 she returned to the Royal Danish Opera, performing La Messaggera in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo at the Royal Danish Theatre’s Old Stage, with Concerto Copenhagen conducted by Lars Ulrik Mortensen. Although the production was interrupted by the Covid-19 lockdown, it was successfully revived in 2023.
In 2022, Mia appeared in Light – Bach Dances at the Royal Danish Theatre, a large-scale collaboration with the acclaimed Hofesh Shechter Company and Concerto Copenhagen, where she performed as a soloist alongside the ensemble. The production was later revived in Paris in 2023, receiving high praise for its fusion of dance and live Baroque performance.
A versatile and accomplished performer, Mia Bergström’s repertoire spans opera, oratorio, lieder, and ensemble music.
